Dr. Ackerly is an Associate Professor of Political Science at Vanderbilt University and author of several publications on human rights. She is the author of Universal Rights in a World of Difference and is now working on a new book that explores human rights violations hidden in everyday life and how these violations are related to economic, environmental and gender injustice. Dr. Ackerly teaches courses on human rights, feminist theory, ethics and public policy, contemporary political thought and the history of political thought. This semester she is co-teaching a graduate seminar at the Vanderbilt Divinity School on Human Rights and Religion.
