Bill Zechman has been a member of the UNA-USA Nashville Cordell Hull Chapter since the mid-1980s. He served two consecutive terms as president and has chaired the government relations and community relations/public education committees. After graduating from McMinnville City High School, Bill earned BS and BA degrees in chemistry and philosophy at the University of Tennessee. First elected to public office in the 1980s as a member of the McMinnville Board of Mayor and Aldermen, he later served 22 years on the Warren County Commission representing the First District. Following this, he was elected to the Warren County school board, where he is completing his second four-year term. Since 1981 Bill has been an agent with the State Farm Insurance Companies. Also, he is a volunteer producer with McMinnville public radio WCPI 91.3, where he hosts a weekly talk show on diverse subjects from politics, civic society, healthcare and education to science and technology. As a longtime member of the Union of Concerned Scientists, he has devoted much of his time to promoting public awareness of the human-caused threats to the global environment.
