The Nashville UNA-USA Cordell Hull Chapter will be celebrating the 80th anniversary UN Day on Saturday, October 25th. UN Day is an international holiday commemorating the founding of the United Nations in 1945. Today, this work is more vital than ever given the state of turmoil and uncertainty the world faces. This year’s theme will be “Challenging Hate: Standing Together for Universal Human Rights”. Our featured keynote speaker will be Amy Sayward.

A historian of the United Nations and of Tennessee, Amy Sayward has written books on both topics. She is a Professor of history, as well as the New American Democracy Project director at Middle Tennessee State University. She will discuss Cordell Hull's role in the creation of the United Nations and highlight the organization's successes over its 80 year history.

In addition, the program will include our 2nd annual elementary school essay and poster contest involving the vital work of the UN. Students were asked to create a poster or essay about a specific UNHR article and what it means to them by our Education Committee. Hopefully, we can cheer on a new generation of UN supporters!
